Yosemite Faire Report + Photos

TRUE COMEDY POWER

O, MORTALS—we returned safely from our second faire in a row! This past weekend, Cutie Berry the Tír na nÓg Faerie journeyed with us to the first-annual Yosemite Chivalry & Fantasy Festival. Six shows of FUN! MAGICK! MUSIC! Which makes 12 shows in just two weekends—more than even the mortals on Broadway pack in! Take that, Broadway!

This Friday at 8PM PT, the stream version of WizWorld LIVE shall return for SEASON SIX! But in the meantime, read on for some photographs & memories from the faire:

LORDS OF LAUGHTER

We were lucky to spend a great deal of time, both at Shasta & at Yosemite, with our good friend & mentor Jester Jeff. He camped with the Independent Pirates, who provided fine feast & finer company for us on Friday & Saturday in the evening. Our tent wound up next to the gentleman-scoundrels of Hearthstone Celtic Food, who provided us with many mashed potatoes. At Shasta, meals are provided for performers & staff, and there is a large potluck after the first night—no such customs at this faire, so we forged our own connections & exchanged hospitalities. It reminded me, actually, of traveling on pilgrimage in the 12th Century.

I often joke that ren faires provide American mortals a glimpse into what life would be like in a small, walkable village, full of artisans & mutual aid—but ‘tis true! The people we meet, cooperate, & collaborate with, the temporary communities that form but once a year, these are what make faires so special (in addition to the mead). We were reunited with old friends—including fans who saw us at Shasta just the week prior!—& bonded with new ones. Mop & Broom, a musical duo who performed at Shasta, popped by for a surprise visit! & in addition to the Independent Pirates, & the Hearthstone foodsmiths, we also met & made merry with the Bookshop Besties, who did not grow tired of our show, despite hearing it 6 times due to having a booth right next to the stage.

Two of our most ardent supporters, Frank & Jaci, even made the trek out to finally see the faire version of our show! They then promptly set out on a road trip up into the Pacific Northwest—safe travels!

But, for all the joyous times, ‘tis wonderful to be in my own tower again. I think, perhaps, we learned that two weekends in a row of camping, of carousing, of channeling dark energies to tell a hundred futures, is slightly more than even our immortal forms can handle. We have a few months until our next scheduled faire appearance—and until then, we have MUCH ADVENTURE IN STORE. Tune in Friday at 8PM Pacific, for our Twitch show’s SEASON SIX PREMIERE!

More details to come in Wednesday’s edition. Apologies for the late hour of this one & on Saturday’s, but time works differently at faire…the normal morning times shall resume! Thanks to all who came to see us this weekend & last, thanks to all who let us tell thy futures, to those who tipped & received STICKERS, to all who joined us for the behind-the-scenes stream, to all the readers here—AN INFINITY OF GRATITUDE.

Now, I must rest, & prepare…

Cheers,

P.S.: There was a train, ‘Twas driven by a madman, & blasted mind-destroying songs about “THE CHOO-CHOO TRAIN.” Chaos. CHAOS.
