The Crypt of the Future
Anyone have a map?

Moody Monday’s greetings, mortals. Amid war, famine, horror, & the creeping dread of life on this roasting plane, I undertook a selfish quest for answers, far below the horizon in
THE CRYPT OF THE FUTURE
Lightly I packed—chalk, a bell, my wand, a length of rope. Unlike others I have traversed—the Tesla Giga-Dungeon, for one—this time-tomb features no monsters, no creatures nor wardens. Only what awaits, awaits me here. Ever-changing, this crypt memorializes things no one yet remembers; all that is or shall be, shall also someday not be, & here, it is.
The rota fortuna appears often down here, some morbid joke by its architect. Not for its usual symbolism—not as the ancient reminder of Fortune’s caprice—but to convey a deeper, darker meaning. For the rota implies that time goes e’er on, spinning eternally—but this crypt, ‘tis a monument to a final end. This crypt proclaims: the wheel halts. A last day of the calendar, a futurus that fuerit.
What be a future, precisely? Can it exist, with none to exist in it? If mortalkind cloaks the world in atomic flame, or bakes the soil & boils the seas, will the future stretch beyond, o’er the barren husk of Terra? When a mortal dies, I oft hear their kin bemoan the future that might have been, & mourn the end of their time. So if all are gone…is the future gone, too?
I wend my way through the winding halls, espying torn banners for nations now & yet, plaques to un-fought battles, stuffed specimens of species who still stalk the surface. With each shifting exhibit I pass in this museum-that-may-be, I grow troubled by the glimpses of fates terrible—but I suppose, that it continues on means that there is a future, for now. No final doom yet upon the mortal world, so long as new passageways present themselves…yea?
Onward I stride, praying this labyrinth be without end, that it shall fill up & up as the future yawns on & on…but ‘tis not up to me, is it, mortals?
Thou built this place, not I.
Are ye satisfied with its design?
Thank ye for reading, mortals. & we thank especial those generous mortals who can & do support this crypt of art with coin!
I shall write ye Wednesday with news of this week’s star-spangled July 4th episode! ‘Til then—be safe, be well, & be the best future-architects ye can…
Cheers,
