Respite from Labors Day

A pleasant, quiet moment

POWER-POSING IN THE LETHAL WOOD

Peaceful Monday to ye, mortals! I strode with unusual incaution into the Assassins’ Wood today, for ‘tis RESPITE FROM LABORS DAY! Assassins of all creeds observe this, each year, & spend it in companionship—or, in what passes for companionship, amongst beings who murder for a living.

Normally, I would fear the Assassins’ Wood—for reasons which, I presume, are obvious, e’en to a mortal? But on this day, I can caper & swan about, swishing my cloak, striking handsome poses! With no fear of a slay-for-pay incident!

Rallos Krek, the goblin murdermeister, watched in rage as I strolled about. Thrice in the past century, Krek found himself stalking me for profit, but always I ‘scaped the final blow. ‘Tis a respiteful joy to prance about on Respite From Labors Day, when Krek can only watch helplessly! HA-HO, KREK, IN THY FACE!

Killa na Geeg watched me also, her steely eyes tracing mine every ludicrous step. She is ancient—nearly so ancient as I—yet only once have we crossed blades. Sometimes, I suspect she avoids contracts ‘pon my head on purpose. Perhaps out of a sense of solidarity? So few beings from o’er 6,000 years ago still stride the planes; ‘tis a shame when any of us fall. Doubly so when filthy foul coin plays the motivator.

I wish ye a similarly uneventful day, mortals! I know most of thine Earth celebrates May Day, & that “Labor Day” exists mainly in the wretched United States, shifted over four months in order to inhibit international cooperation—but, in America, ye find so few days of rest. May as well enjoy the ones ye do get, while ye can, ne?

Thank ye for reading, mortals! & thank ye to all who support our works here with coin!

If ye worked still today, despite the “holiday,” I hope ye may seize treble-over-holiday-double-time, at the very least. I shall write ye Wednesday with news of this week’s episode—’til then, be safe, be well, & SOLIDARITY FOR ALL ETERNITY

Cheers,
