Onward, to Shasta!
PLUS: Essential Ren Faire Information

Warm Wednesday, mortals! Join us Friday at 8PT for an especial BEHIND-THE-SCENES BROADCAST from the Shasta Renaissance & Fantasy Faire! Shasta was our second-e’er faire, & we are pleased to return for our FIFTH GO-ROUND! & we shall be most pleased to show ye around the constantly-expanding grounds, WITH our friends Emily & Forrest of Radio Free Multiverse!
Attendance has grown by leaps & bounds each year so far—tickets may sell out, but e’en if not, buying tickets day-of at the booth can lead to much time standing, sweating in the Shasta Sunlight. ‘Tis wiser to secure entry beforehand, an ye can.
Below—for anyone attending Shasta or any other faire this year, please peruse & absorb some essential ren fest advice, purchased at dear cost:

HYDRATION! Port it with ye, gulp it often, especially at faires of Sunshine or heat.
NOURISHMENT! Stay fed, as well as watered! Thirst & hunger fell more patrons than bow or blade. & aye, I hear ye cry, “But the food! It costs so much!” Indeed…
GUILDERY! The faire offers a dizzying array of options to occupy the day—hawkers, comedy wizards, melees, standing in line for ale. But many mortals, e’en now, overlook one of the most wondrous aspects: THE GUILDS! Guilds of craft—re-enactment—of whimsy & strangeness! There are guilds & groups of many kinds, from which ye may learn much! Take in a spinning demonstration—learn to fence—hear of French history—or enjoy a bit of Shakespeare, all often in the shade, to boot! The best place to spend time between shows or meals, I declare, be the guilds!
& often, the guilds provide HYDRATION! & NOURISHMENT! Snacks, by & large, but sometimes especial mediæval delights or e’en full meals, for lucky & kindly mortals. Find a group that interests ye, & spend some time socializing there; the rewards might be unlimited.GOOFERY! If ye trade a bit of dignity, for a bit of willing-to-be-silly, ye shall enjoy the visit much more! Engage with the antics of the wandering jesters; compliment the roving fur enthusiasts on their outfits which no doubt are full of sweat; be willing to sit through a bit of ribaldry & rhyme! ‘Tis a worthy sacrifice, I promise. Because the true magick of the faire is in…
TRANSMUTATION! As longed by the alchemists of old, the faire is a place of grand transformation. The modern world becomes a different one—not an older one, but rather, the dream of an older one. Of a walkable world, peopled by the kind, with hand-made wares & fresh-cooked food. Where money means less, & guns fire but once in two minutes. Ye can shed any identity which suits ye not, dress as society allows ye not, & explore so many other ways of living. If ye seek to imagine a better world, the ren faire is a wonderful place for trying.
HYDRATION! Truly I tell ye, forget NOT the hydration.
Thank ye for reading—& thank ye to the growing cadre of generous mortals who can & do support our works here with coin!
I hope ye shall join us Friday for our especial BEHIND-THE-SCENES BROADCAST! I shall write ye late on Saturday & Monday, with images & stories from the week-end. ‘Til then—be safe, be well, & we shall see ye at faire…
Cheers,
