Idyllwild '25, Day I

The Horrid Bells of McDonald

With leathermen, flower folk, each other, & dead pirates

Greetings, mortals, from a supine position in our tent, on the LOVELY MOUNTAIN! Each of our three shows today here at Idyllwild, were WILD DELIGHTS. We spoke with teachers, engineers, doctors, insouciant children, & a magickal time was had by all. I have included a few images from the day above; below, I shall recount the horrors of the BELLS OF MCDONALD, & reveal some exciting news about Summersbane.

The new Idyllwild faire site, sits adjacent to a Ronald McDonald House. For those who may not know, the Ronald McDonald Houses are the only good things the McDonald’s omnicorp brings to the world; sick children & their families may reside in comfort while seeking treatment & recovering. However, at this Ronald McDonald House, ‘t seems…different.

At prime this morn, as the hated Sun began to shine, we heard CHURCH BELLS from McDonald’s House. Not seven, as would count the hour, but MAD CLANGING. 20 times & more it clanged…& then, a moment of silence. Peace, we thought, had come…but nay. Then, THE MUSIC BEGAN. Strange, intense, CLUB MUSIC. A song we ne’er had heard, & one which we now believe may emanate only from this one McDonald’s House.

Do the children enjoy this? A rigorous wake-up schedule, of terrifying bells, then intense music? We do not know. We are not allowed to cross the border into McDonald’s territory. Armed Grimaces patrol at all times.

We thought the strangeness ended; but then, ‘round terce, again the bells rang! Again the music resounded! & again, at VESPERS. What are McDonald’s men putting these sickly children through? Why the scheduled clanging? We may ne’er know…unless we get past the Grimaces. But we are too weary for combat this evening.

Bells aside, I captured this image of Summersbane, right after our final show of the day, where we went nearly a full hour—for we are the CLOSING ACT, an honor! But so hopelessly romantic he seemed, that I knew I must share it. I hope ye will agree; & I hope ye will keep thine ears peeled for his forthcoming The Time tribute album: “NecRomancers Get Lonely Too…”

This will NOT be on Sound-Cloud

Thank ye for reading, mortals! & we thank all those who support our works here with coin, & the many MANY mortals who supported our shows at the faire with coin! Including our cherished friend, whom ye may know as “ChoplandSedans.”

I shall write ye Monday with more images & memories—for now, we must away to the AFTER-PARTY. Where, we surmise, “anything goes.” ‘Til then, be safe, be well, & PARTY ON, MORTALS.

Cheers,
