Happy St. Patrick's Day, '25!
A touch of lore & snakes

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, mortals! WAIT—’tis not how it appears!
“VILLAIN!,” I hear ye scream. “Do mine eyes deceive? Amœnus Franco, putting snakes BACK into Ireland!?” Ye see true, mortal…but I act with good reason!
All Saints must be tested, & each year I accept the burden of testing St. Patrick himself—hence, the ophidious mischief! Yea, again I hear ye howling—smashing thy keyboard, to tell me that snakes ALWAYS avoided Ireland & St. Patrick banished NONE. True again, mortal! But his legend, true or no, attributes snake banishment. & as a Saint, he must keep up certain appearances. So though while living he banished no snakes at all, now he banishes them each year.
& each year, too, I that hope St. Patrick may set his eye on the other snakes in Ireland—like the colonizers & monarchists in the North, or the American oligarchs who treat the island like a tawdry check cashery.
No such luck, as of yet.
Perhaps this year, Patrick?

I hope ye have a fine St. Patrick’s Day, whether ye gad about at the pub, or tear down thy local colonialist empire. So many ways to celebrate!
Thank ye for reading, mortals! & thank ye of course to the generous & growing number of mortal readers who can & do support our works here with coin!
I shall write ye again come Monday with news of this week’s episode. ‘Til then—be safe, be well, & remember: GO ON HOME, BRITISH SOLDIERS!
Cheers,
Amœnus Franco
